A new report suggests that the personal bankruptcy crisis is far from over. The instability of the economy in recent years has many experts still urging caution. Chapter 7 bankruptcies were down on average in 2011, but an increase in November and December might suggest that they will rise again for Baton Rouge and the rest of the country in 2012.

Many people read stories about national trends and feel that their situation might be somehow fixed to the national economic averages. This simply isn't the case. Every person's financial situation is unique, and although some people might fall into the average range for some data, personal bankruptcy is determined by a person's individual financial situation, not the national trend or average.

The fall in bankruptcies in 2011 is the first drop since 2006, but some experts believe that because of the upward trend at the end of last year, 2012 will be a year with another increase. This increase in November and December could have been caused by many Americans finally reaching their breaking point. Many people are starting to realize that their financial situation has gotten out of their control and they are seeking options to relieve their financial hardship.

Filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Baton Rouge isn't an easy decision. It may however help relieve the stress of constant creditor harassment, and give someone a way to start over. Sometimes when a person's financial situation becomes overwhelming, and they don't know where to even start, filing for bankruptcy can help eliminate debt and stop the requests for payment from their creditors.
